Project report: netvico order and advertising terminals at SportScheck branches

Sport Scheck Stele

Since last November, the department store chain SportScheck has been equipping branches across the country with the netvico touch-screen order terminal. The unique feature of this product innovation is that it can be used both by sales staff and customers interactively.
The pillar systems delivered as part of the first rollout are just the beginning of a wide-scale project to equip all SportScheck branches. Over the coming weeks, the remaining branches of the chain will be able to enjoy the many advantages of the combined 47-inch Full-HD-IR (infrared) touch screen and printer cabinet.
The system will open up a new service dimension to customers and sales staff. Designed primarily as an order terminal, the system can be used by the sales assistant to order items without having to subject the customer to the otherwise lengthy waiting times that are common while orders are processed. Using a personalized Smart-Card, the sales assistant simply logs into the Staff-Online-Shop and via RFID technology gains immediate access to all the online shop’s products, which can be selected on the touch screen.

By way of a dual log-in procedure, which prevents any unauthorized data access, the terminal can also be used interactively by customers. By touching the display screen, customers are taken straight to the SportScheck homepage where they can find about current offers as well as the entire product range. If they are interested in a particular item, they can print out images and datasheets directly from the printer cabinet, in line with the motto: “What you have in black in white, you can take home with confidence” – an option that will undoubtedly have a positive influence on the customer’s purchase decision. When terminals are not being used interactively, SportScheck images and commercials will be displayed on the screens.
