A unique experience: netvico technology in SportScheck store Berlin

Europe´s top of the range warehouse for sports equipment. Sports fanatics were welcomed into 4,500 sqm of sales floor, a world of experience shored up by netvico’s attractive and informative digital media.

Lights up for the big event! For days, the countdown clock shown on LED cubes in the window of the new SportScheck store in Berlin’s Schlossstrasse had Berliners eagerly awaiting the grand opening. The big day finally came on 30 September, when shoppers gathered to count down the final seconds until Europe’s most cutting-edge sports store opened its doors. Sports fanatics were welcomed into 4,500 sqm of sales floor, a world of experience shored up by netvico’s attractive and informative digital media.

The concept put in place by netvico together with the interior design firm Manfred Knappe is aimed specifically at creating a first-class emotionalising environment. Central to the concept is the use of the most varied of digital media to bring diverse departments to life with moving images. Passersby are mesmerized by the brightness of the 20 sqm LED cubes in the store windows. The cubes can be seen from over 100 meters away and, with a pixel pitch of only 6mm, show content such as the latest SportScheck TV commercials with unparalleled color quality.

To help shoppers find their way around the store, information pillars and digital screens embedded in the walls have been installed near the escalators and elevators. The terminals provide customers and sales staff with information about the entire SportScheck catalog and serve as a convenient way of processing orders. In addition to the terminals, sales staff have innovative iPads at their disposal. netvico has also provided lockable units with RFID-operated locks that can be opened by sales staff using a special card.

A children’s touch-screen movie theater has been set up to encourage active play. The hiking department has been transformed into an alpine wonderland with a digital window casting a view over the mountains and display screens showing various panoramic images from the Alps. And a digital fireplace rounds off the picture, helping the customer to slip completely into this serene atmosphere.

Anyone interested in filming can use one of the store’s helmet cameras. After putting on the camera, customers can explore the store and then look at the results on a display screen. The respective software for this innovative and fun form of product presentation was developed by netvico.

One of SportScheck’s mission statements is that it strives to give its customers the best advice. SportScheck customers therefore have the possibility of booking appointments with sales staff online from the comfort of their living room. The appointments are then displayed on a digital “sales advisor” at the cash desks.

The in-store music is also tailored to customers and staff alike and operated like all netvico media using the software technology »PlayEverywhere«, which guarantees 100% control over the respective playtimes, messages and the choice of commercials.

Due to the manifold communication situations and the use of the most diverse digital media in SportScheck’s Berlin store, the aim of netvico’s concept was to create a coherent, harmonious overall package out of all the various individual solutions. We are convinced that the result is testament to netvico’s technological as well as aesthetic and creative competence.
